Sometimes It's hard to keep up a persona of an outdoor family. I am more than just an outdoor mom. I am mom who reads books in bed, who cooks, who vegges out on Netflix. My kids are more than just adventure kids. They live in a home full of love, they play with legos, they play sports, they are ballerinas, and brothers and sisters, they sit in time out, sometimes eats Taco Bell and everyone of us makes mistakes.

Although I want to share our love of the forest and all the cool things that come with it...there are still these folks behind the scenes. These real folks who live real lives. Thus I created forestnfolk. as for my tribe we ride real....

this cool thing called the web is pretty outstanding. i can meet friends from all over the world. I love sharing our adventures, our education ideas and sometimes our mistakes. i feel When you create an environment that is relatable it's easier to connect. It's refreshing and inspiring. Life is a journey and we are all a wild child on our own adventure trail. Wether it be learning to tie your kindergartener's shoe, planting a garden or on the cliffs of Kauai.

I look forward to seeing each and every family trail and like REI says every trail connects...I candidly think we connect. I have met so many cool people out there from all over the world.

They are the Adventure

They are the Adventure

About

Phorest in the Forest

Phorest in the Forest

I look forward to many years of outdoor adventure. This summer we don't have huge plans other than some pretty big hikes with the older kids and a few camping trips. Those camping trips are simple. They are close by. They are cheap, but I know we will be making some of the best memories of our lives.

Some of my favorite memories with our kids outdoors are nothing really special, I mean we have some crazy stories to tell from Angel's landing, trecking the rainforest and caves of Thailand to Kauai's Napali coastline, but none of them compare to the sweetest sounds of little feet hitting the trail next to us or the wide eyed amazement of finding a new creature. Watching them gaze with astonishment at a magnificent horizon.

To watch my children fall in love with the world in front of me is by far my favorite experience. Adventures are definitely apart of our lives, but THEY are the greatest adventure yet.

Speaking of adventure...

Our Instagram name use to be Fearless Mother... I'd show images of myself and all my littles treckin deep in the forest. It's a funny story really..... how I came up with the name.

It was years ago and I decided to get the kids out of the house by a near by wild life reserve. The kids were having so much fun. We hiked deeper and deeper and eventually found ourselves lost. We had been hiking for hours. I could hear water across a prairie so I decided to cross it and follow the creek back to the car. I even tried to call my husband who was stuck in surgery to see if he could find my location on maps and redirect me back...it was no luck.

When we got close to the creek there were mounds and mounds of blackberry bushes not too mention fresh scat. But not just any scat it was bear scat. The hairs stood up on my arms. I didn't know what to do.

I had a baby on my back and a bunch of little babes depending on me.  Every turn was so deep in blackberries you couldn't see around the corner. I just knew we were going to run face to face with a real life mama bear and her babes. So being the fearless mother I am I decided to start singing to the top of my lungs. The kids joined in. Eventually we found the car.

We never did meet that bear & we did have a lot of fun singing our hearts out.

                                                                Hey remember.....

Remember the time we woke the kids up crazy early...like 4 AM early..(New Year's Eve) so they could witness a Crater Lake Sunrise and maybe, just maybe see the Aurora Borealis. You layered them with all the snow gear we owned...I made sandwiches. You drove...They slept.... And together we shared one magnificent star lit sky. I don't ever want to forget the colors. The excitement. The adventure! As twilight rose...it engulfed us with this radiant blue and gray ombre horizon. It was as though the sky had so sweetly kissed the snow covered trees surrounding us. It was as though this moment was made for you & me. What a beginning...what a prelude to one magnificent day👌🏾
